The 22 march 2017 marked the celebration of the World
Water Day under the theme « wastewater ». This day brought together
many organizations in the globe to take action in order to tackle water crisis.
It is in this light that, the Center for Communication and sustainable
development for All (CECOSDA) organized in partnership with UNESCO, IUCN, ENSTP,
UNIVERSITY OF PADUA, The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, a panel
discussion at the National Advanced School
of Public Works (ENSTP) which brought together students, professionals,
experts, researchers from over 10 public and private institutions. The
conference aimed at bringing together relevant stakeholders under the theme “Water in its diversity: what opportunities
for sustainable development in Cameroon?” to share best practices,
perspectives and opportunities for the participants. More so, it was a platform
whereby, the organizations raise awareness on the existence of policies guiding
the management of water resources in Cameroon, the importance of improving
water quality, treating and reusing wastewater.
Furthermore, students from IRIC and ENSTP were given
the platform to do their presentation which at the end caused the audience to participate
effectively in the question and answer session.
CECOSDA like every other actor is determined to
achieve the sustainable development goals. In addition, cecosda is looking
forward to organizing the 2018 edition of World Water Day with the help of
several other stakeholders in the field of water to provide concrete solutions
to problems related to water in Cameroon
